The community of Camp Nelson is located 45 minutes east of Porterville, California, on Highway 190, in eastern Tulare County.  The community was established in 1886 and has operated continually since that time as a destination resort.   It is now incorporated into the new Giant Sequoia National Monument and will benefit from federal promotional budgets.

Pierpoint Springs is located approximately 1/2 mile from Camp Nelson "proper", and is considered part of the Camp Nelson community.

Camp Nelson and adjacent villages have 1723 parcels of land, 900+ homes and 300+ permanent residents.  500 of those homes and 180 residents are in Camp Nelson itself.  At any given time the population may be 3-5,000 because of vacation home and campground use.  There are four local campgrounds.  The areas' aesthetics and enormous and popular trail system keep campgrounds well used in summer months.

Customers are drawn from the San Joaquin Valley and the Los Angeles basin.  The San Joaquin Valley is the state's agricultural heartland and one of the world's leading producers of agricultural products.  There are 3,000,000 acres under production, with gross receipts of over $15 billion.  Tulare County is now the nation's largest dairy products producer.

Additionally, customers are drawn from the 20-million-strong Los Angeles basin.  Over 30% of all property in the area is owned by persons from that area.  A major attraction is that there can never be any more development, thus creating exclusivity. This results in an increase in real estate prices.

The elevation is about 4,800 feet, where snow is frequent in winter months.  All roads are well maintained year-round.  Temperatures range from sub-freezing days in winter to mid-80's in summer.  Temperatures seldom exceed 90 degrees (F) and seldom drop below 20 degrees.

Area activities include hiking, backpacking, hunting, fishing, horse pacing, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling.

Pierpoint Springs is located 45 minutes East of Porterville in the Giant Sequoia National Monument. From Highway 99 or 65 take the 190 East. The small town of Springville is 30 minutes West of Pierpoint Springs.
